Netherlands, the school closed after shooting threat


More than 20 schools in the city of Leiden, Netherlands, Monday (22/4) is closed because police fear the threat of a mass shooting.

Anonymous threats posted on a web site, revealed plans to make the school and the teachers in the city as a target.

Threatening not explain where the school in question.

The police responded by asking 22 terror secondary and vocational schools in the city to be closed today.

Dutch media reported that police looked on guard in front of two large school buildings and the Da Vinci College Driestar College.

Leiden Mayor Henri Lenferink told Dutch NOS television, "This threat could be just a joke, but we did not want to take the risk."

Threats are published on the internet forum 4chan, said, "Tomorrow, I will shoot my Dutch teacher and students as much as possible."

Threat giver said he would bring a gun Colt Defender and note to explain the reason for the shooting when entering the school building.

The BBC's Anna Holligan in The Hague reported that the decision to close schools with students aged between 12-16 years were made after the mayor, the head of the local prosecutor and police conduct meetings.

"The police had received information about the possibility of school shootings in Leiden," police said in a written statement.

"Following this serious threat, we decided not to take the risk and therefore all secondary schools will be closed Monday."

Leiden is located approximately 20km to the northeast of The Hague and is known as the location of the oldest university in the Netherlands, Leiden University
